The Nigerian Educational System Today

It is not everytime it may be wise to so-called “wash their dirty linen in public” but this time around it may be wise to push that they really do something. Today, many people may look at us Nigerians as prob. irresponsible. Some handful may look outright foolish because “at your old age you were not able to prepare for retirement or to manage what may be termed millions (NEVER MIND IT MAY TURN OUT PENNIES)”. Many of Nigeria’s problems arose and even got exercabated because of a very wrong approach to and an inordinate yet perpetual misuse of the year ’93 –a rather irredescent issue- rather than a more relevant and useful (THAT SHOULD RATHER HAVE BEEN PART OF A NATIONAL ANTHEM AD LIB TILL SUCCESS) year ’86 (and this would have been more useful and fruitful in conjunction with ’93 for as yet a totally different set of points). Now the results of today’s Nigeria is the prognostications and techniques foistered on the country by a generation of workers that are generally thought to be vastly better educated than generations after that. Such products were somewhat directly assimilated into the PG programs and work systems of the then-advanced countries. Nigeria was then touted to reach the levels some of them (countries) did reach today. Yet if it is those trained then that have put us at this level today why should it not be a thing to be alarmed and publicly shouted if those being trained today are so done five to twenty times worse than that earlier generation (utilising teacher-cum-student ratios alone). Why should a teacher who is resigning to show that the situation is not something to overlook or play with only receive mockery and rebuff- for instance they have jerked up admissions in some cases by as much as 300%. Yet GOD knows for sure that there are somethings you never allow whether there is World War going on or not. Let it be well known that those of us who who tread paths such as these are really the ones that –where possible- would rather want ALL WELL EDUCATED.
